Elevation Special::Interview with Light Warriors Tokyo! |
|
|
While we malingered backstage at the Kent Elevation
shindig, we caught a glimpse of the enigmatic "light
warriors"! Billed as "a performance of lightsource
expressions" and a "phenomenon that will surely
elevate your sense extraordinarily", we had to find out
what these guys are all about. Read on...
whats the concept behind light warriors tokyo?
Light Warriors Tokyo is about energy. We do visuals, we do
visual performance. Everything we do is improvised, in the
moment, with the crowd and the DJ. We just improvise and jam
with the light and the costumes of light.
where else have u guys performed?
We started the group in Tokyo and we've been performing for
the past two, two and a half years in Tokyo. In January we did
a tour in Australia and after KL we are going to Hong Kong.
|
how did you guys meet?
These things just kind of happen. You start doing art and you
get interested in certain things and you put your energy into
it, you put work into it and there's all these beautiful
things that come out.
You continue and continue and all of a sudden there's a
beautiful creation.
It was really about friends meeting once in awhile, having
a good connection, spending time together, discovering things
in common, sharing and from that we create.
how's Malaysia been treating you?
Fantastic! we've been meeting great people, been here for a
couple of days, ate some good food! Met some beautiful people.
|
how many people form the Light Warriors dance crew?
We're not really a dance group, we're a performance group. We
have two people on stage and one on the camera. We collaborate
with all kinds of different artists.
We work with video feedback and we paint with light. We do
light painting on the video screen, on the camera and
projector.
what other projects are you guys involved with?
We've played the Sacred Music Festival in Hiroshima and lots
of other music festivals everywhere.
are there really raves on Mount Fuji?!
Yes! It's amazing you know, looking at the sun rise and Mount
Fuji and the music is blasting and everybody's smiling, its
amazing.
