>> Feb/March Profile: burn_ibiza

burn_ibiza is nothing if not adventurous. After returning to KL after six years abroad in Melbourne and New Zealand (working, studying, and easy access to interesting music, he says), his experimental pieces crack the musty sarcophagus of local music open, letting in a whiff of fresh air.

"There are just so many things I would like to try, as a result it sometimes lacks coherence. I have a foot in noise guitar (the Sonic Youth heritage) and another one in IDM (the Warp Records heritage), and fingers dipped all over the place. The music might wreflect that, I'm not sure," he said when asked to describe his music.

With three guitars and a computer loaded with software, burn_ibiza makes music resulting from the tense interaction between his diverse influences. Like soap bubbles, they are fragile and a delight to behold, but you never know when they will burst.

And is he a big fan of the White Isle? "hmmm... I think those who understand will get it. and those who don't might think it's a dance outfit." Yes. That answers our questions completely!

Anyway... take a listen to the music from his 'oblilio kadee' EP!
