When he's not greasing the cogs of Malaysia's IT industry,
Keith AKA Six mixes up drum n bass on his trusty laptop,
Fruity.
He was introduced to electronic music through trip hop acts
like Leftfield and Massive Attack while studying in Birmingham
before discovering DnB on a night out.
Although captivated by it's complex rhythms, it wasn't until
he came across Spacebar back in KL that he was inspired to
delve deeper into the sound.
Armed with a copy of Traktor DJ software and some mp3's, he
embarked on the long and
dangerous journey of becoming a bedroom DJ.
If he isn't messing about with DnB on the laptop, he's messing
about with production tools on the laptop.
He programs beats for a
rock/electroncic outfit called Dusk, which plays mostly, well,
rock music with an electronic tinge.
He adopted Six as his moniker to help MCs with the difficult
task of rhyming... according to him, "Boh! Six in the mix!"
would really pump up the crowd, but he hasn't had the chance
to test it out just yet.
His easy listening favourites include Accidental Heroes, Bjork,
Radiohead, jazz, funk and grunge.
Although his first love is DnB, he prefers to keep an open
mind about music, "Music is knowledge... get an education," he
says.
