promo only out on Groove Genetics

The long awaited CD from our very own local lady of breaks, Reiki, has finally arrived. This time round, Reiki challenged the realms of breaks by putting together a wide variation of styles within the broken genre into her arsenal. Weaving in and out of housey, funky, techy, electro and hip-hopish breaks, Reiki displayed her maturity through her experience with swift and accurate mixing.

Techi-er tracks like 'Territory' and 'Punks', together with housey breaks tracks like 'Muzika' were all blended into a twisted journey that can only be described as an edgier sound of the breaks underground. Choosing not to use many popular club tracks, Re:volution 002 not only provides the underground feel with a darker grungier side of the backroom genre but also giving true form to Reiki’s production moniker, Techbreaker. Adding onto the texture of the mix are subtle vocal samples from her own collection that were tactfully blended into the tracks. Unnoticeable to the untrained ear! All said and done, Reiki has efficiently reinstated her dubious position with this mix as one broken beated DJ that’s here to stay.
